CONGRESSIONAL ENTERTAINMENT CAUCUS
Dear Members of the Entertainment Industry:---------------As Chair of the newly formed Congressional Entertainment Caucus, I invite you to join me at our first Los Angeles Caucus Hearing to address issues important to the entertainment sector. We have reserved audience participation segments for your input immediately following each panel of scheduled expert witnesses from the entertainment industry.
As you may know by now, the Congressional Entertainment Caucus was established to engage members of Congress about entertainment industry concerns. Currently, thirty members of Congress have joined the Caucus on a non-partisan basis. We are expecting a large representation of these members at the hearing to be held:
Wednesday, August 6, 2003 8:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon
University of Southern California
Davidson Business Conference Center
3415 South Figueroa Street
Los Angeles, CA 90089The Caucus recognizes the economic and cultural contributions of the entertainment sector, which brought an estimated $535.1 billion to the U.S. economy in 2001 and exports films, music, and television programs to more than 150 countries. Caucus members are cognizant of the many challenges to the industry today, such as intellectual property protection, runaway productions, piracy, new FCC ownership rules and the development of new digital media. As a way of raising Congressional awareness on these issues, the Caucus serves as a clearing house for the dissemination of vital information and as a forum to formulate and discuss innovative approaches to the many challenges the entertainment sector faces.
Please R.S.V.P. to my Los Angeles district office at 323-965-1422 or for further information, contact my staff coordinators of the event: Lois Hill Hale, Press Secretary at 323-965-1422 or Shawn Chang, Legislative Aide at 202-225-7084.
I urge you to attend this important hearing.
Sincerely,
Diane E. Watson, Member of Congress
